Vroom vroom, but quiet: Formula E Diriyah

While January has become infamously known around the globe as the Monday of months, the end of January in the Kingdom was anything but that. Formula E came to Diriyah for the fifth time: for those unfamiliar, it is the single-seater, electrically powered and super exciting, Formula E races.

Not only was this a significant global sporting event for the Kingdom, but it was also an exciting time for our very own colleagues at Petromin, who were Nissan’s Official Innovation Partners for Formula E. Amongst other things, for us this meant we got to see Petromin’s logo proudly displayed on the Formula E team vehicles.

Throughout the last weekend of January, set against the stunning UNESCO World Heritage Site, race-car fans were treated to a weekend of environmentally-friendly racing. Not only are the cars electric, but the Diriyah track itself is illuminated with low-consumption LED technology powered by renewable energy. In addition, the energy used to power the floodlighting comes from fully renewable, low carbon hydrogenated vegetable oil made from sustainable materials.
